Gold Rush (written by Katie Haverly)
Come to the table, sit yourself down
I didn't know you were back in town
So what did you learn while you were away?
Or did you sequester yourself, in a hotel
And pray
Go on say what you feel I won't judge
Give me the real scenes from all of your years in the mud
For so long I dreamed about the day we'd meet
Now that's it here the taste in the air’s bittersweet
California do you remember us?
The bungalow on the beach in Venice
Sandy gardens to nourish us
I hate to say it babe
I think we missed the gold rush
The colors of the countries in your veins
Are duller now that we all know your name
Don't worry though it's only just one drink
Then I'll be gone and you'll be left alone to think
But California do you remember us?
The bungalow on the beach in Venice
Sandy gardens to nourish us
I hate to say it babe
I think we missed the gold rush
But California do you remember us?
The bungalow on the beach in Venice
Sandy gardens to nourish us
I hate to say it babe
I think we missed the gold rush

Natural Disaster

Natural Disaster (written by Katie Haverly)
Been workin on waiting
Been working on patience
Been working on my mind
Trying hard but still denied
If I had my way
You and I, earthquake
Been working on savoring
Been working on spaces
Been working on simmering
Trying hard but I’ve reached my limit
What you gonna do baby
I’ve been working so hard
I need to get paid
I’m gonna file a complaint
About your restraint
Cause the look in your eyes
Tells me I’m right
Sign on the dotted line
Give in this time
Don’t be afraid of the mess that we’ll make
Because what I am after is a real natural disaster
Let me show you what I can do
But babe you better start workin too
Been workin on quiet
Been workin on the riot
Thunderin thunderin under my skin
Trying hard but I think it’s gonna win
If I had my way, you and I
Tsunami
I’m gonna file a complaint
About your restraint
Cause the look in your eyes
Tells me I’m right
Sign on the dotted line
Give in this time
Don’t be afraid of the mess that we’ll make
Because what I am after is a real natural disaster
Let me show you what I can do
But babe you better start workin too

Our Own Way

Our Own Way (written by Katie Haverly)
Can you feel the desert between us
I haven't seen green in days
The dust shadows what I know
Now that you're so far away
And you never really knew me
I guess that's what we always say
At the end of the line
No more trains coming by
Gotta find our own way
Gotta find our own way
I guess I never wanted to admit
I was the last thing on your mind
But you can't say I didn't try
I tried real hard this time
But you never really knew me
I guess that's what we always find
At the end of the tracks
No more trains comin back
Gotta find our own line
Gotta find our own line
The shapes in the stars
Can't tell us apart
The space of the hearts
Arbitrary
Hardly worth mentioning
Can you feel the desert between us
I haven't seen green in days
The dust shadows what I know
Now you're so far away
And you never really knew me
I guess that's what we always say
At the end of the line
No more trains coming by
Gotta find our own way
Gotta find our own way

Enough

Enough (written by Katie Haverly)
The eyes not enough
The smile not enough
The high not enough
The kiss not enough
The lift not enough
The skin not enough
The sweat not enough
Soon it will dry up
The gaze not enough
How at this point can I ever trust a look?
The thighs not enough
The sighs not enough
The tides not enough
The heat not enough
The sweet not enough
The leap not enough
The breath not enough
The music of it predictable
The surge not enough
Waves crash, the sea foam dissolves
Then the come down
Staring at the wall
Put the clothes back on
Nothing that I want
The ring not enough
The swing not enough
The sting not enough
The name not enough
The claim not enough
The frame not enough
The home not enough
The walls too tight around my throat
The soul not enough
It doesn't match the color of my own
Then the come down
I'm staring at the wall
Pack up all my stuff
Nothing that I want....

A Ghost Like Me

A Ghost Like Me (written by Katie Haverly)
It would have been nice
It would have been nice
To talk until our lips were numb
Play songs, get really drunk
Just simple really
Two bruised souls getting back to feeling
Sorry I didn’t realize
She was the distance in your eyes
It would have been nice
It would have been nice
To float through our sleeping town
Hatching plans tryin to figure out
How to make everybody feel
Something that lasts and something real
Sorry I didn’t realize
These thoughts just never crossed your mind
A ghost like me recognizes one of her own
Even if you don’t
I know you can see through me
But still I put on a show
I know you’ll buy a ticket though
But I’ve just gotta let go
Watching her touching you
As I sing trying not to choke
It would have been nice
It would have been nice
To hover up above the ground
With our voices finding new sounds
Tattered specters in the night
Building churches in the moonlight
Sorry I didn’t realize
I live in dreams to avoid the light
A ghost like me recognizes one of her own
Even if you don’t
I know you can see through me
But still I put on a show
I know you’ll buy a ticket though
But I’ve just gotta let go
Watching her touching you
As I sing trying not to choke
Just simple really
Two bruised souls getting back to feeling
Sorry I didn’t realize
She was the distance in your eyes

Wood (written by Katie Haverly)
I’ve got a few stories to tell
Been too long held in a time capsule
And I’m not gonna name any names
You’ll notice each one really sounds the same
12 years old walking home from school
A guy on his bike in hot pursuit
Threw the bike down and grabbed my ass
Looked me in the eye and all he could do was laugh
He said you look good
Total wood
Oh what I would do, if I could
Sucked at love but thought I got one right
‘Til his drunk friend got out of hand one night
After eating the dinner that I cooked for them
He talked too loud, made my jaw tense
And he grabbed my breast in the kitchen light
Laughed hard as he squeezed with pure delight
And though he saw the whole damn thing go down
Not one word uttered from my man’s mouth
His friend said, you look good
Total wood
Oh what I would do, if I could
Tried to shake off the past in the public eye
But the man in the booth was giving me the eye
As I bent down to plug my guitar in
He said, baby bend lower let me see it again
He said you play pretty good for a girl
Then stuck his rough hands up my shirt
Hollow apologies later didn’t mean shit
He thought my body was a toy and he could play with it
He said, You look good
Total wood
Oh what I would do, if I could
You look good…

100 Streams (written by Katie Haverly)
I’m gonna stay low, let the river flow down to me
Gonna open my chest up as wide as the sea
Giving in isn’t giving up
Just gives me a fuller cup
Gonna be the king of a hundred streams
I’m gonna stay low, let the guys know
I’ve clipped my strings
I float freely now, unhindered on the fringe
Giving in isn’t giving up, just gives me a fuller cup
Gonna be the king of a hundred streams
Oh, when we go
Down to the water now
Drown out the chatter now
Oh, when we float
With our face towards the sky
Let the shrapnel pass by
I’m gonna stay low, let the river flow down to me
Gonna open my chest up as wide as the sea
Giving in isn’t giving up
Just gives me a fuller cup
Gonna be the king of a hundred streams
Oh, when we go
Down to the water now
Drown out the chatter now
Oh, when we float
With our face towards the sky
Let the shrapnel pass by

Stove (written by Katie Haverly)
Momma’s got something on the stove
Daddy just wants to be alone
Sister upstairs, door closed
And I’m smiling underneath it all
Momma’s got something on the stove
Daddy is wearing his earphones
Sister’s name on the bathroom wall
And I’m teaching boys how to break a fall
This is how I remember, This is how it felt
This is how I remember, This is how it felt
You see myself for me
It’s hard when your your skin’s the seam
You see myself for me
It’s hard…
But Momma’s got something on the stove
Daddy just wants to be alone
Sister won’t open her door
And I’m trading silver for the road
This is how I remember, This is how it felt
This is how I remember, This is how it felt
This is how I remember, This is how it felt
This is how I remember, This is how it felt

Ring

Ring (by Katie Haverly)
As you read your books of legends and men
Feeling the earth move, gliding through it
Some sound you recall, like a sheltered memory
Like a wand, like a finger, like a ring
Hey….
Oh the storybooks you’ll make
The illustrations, the words, the ache
The pull from the west
The strain on your chest
And the wonder, the wonder, the wonder
Oh where, the wonder went?
Hey….
What are you planning?
What are you planning?
As the summer slows
And the colors start to fade
Images suspend the man, suspend the age
The muse diverts the heart from the sting
What are you planning?
What are you planning?

Back Sometime (written by Katie Haverly)
It’s never time to go
But the going is all we do
There is no past or future
There is no me, there is no you
There is no forever
Only what we knew
In a moment, back sometime
When we were more than two
Today the banker came around
Tallied the columns up and down
Took my picture - my fingerprints
Handed me the warrant you addressed
But there is no forever
Only what we sensed
In a moment, back sometime
When we were more than less
All around I hear a phrase
In my ears, slapping my face
From every mouth I try to explain
I hear it over and over again
Why – Why – Why
I carry a wagon of memories
Release them one by one into the trees
But there are no victims of circumstance
We create the pain we experience
And there is no forever
Only what we guessed
In a moment, back sometime
When we were more than friends

Aviary (written by Katie Haverly)
When the stars come out
I see you up high on a lonely bough
Could you make your way back down
Come fly to me here on the ground
'Cause down below there's a lot to see
Down below the soil breaks the seed
And the filaments of the diffidence can't be seen
Ever wondered what's beyond
Air on our wings and raindrops
So what that we're weathered fowl
You and I, the peacock and the owl
Down below there's a lot to see
Down below the soil breaks the seed
And the figments of their indifference can't be seen
Heard the chirping about your past
The beauty you made, and how they laughed
I know it’s not quite the same
But I've been burned by that familiar flame
I know a crack in the glass
The weight of us could bring it down at last
There's nothing left for us dear
So let's get the hell out of here
